Kt/V Calculator- Dialysis Dose Calculation

Daugirdas Formula:

Kt/V = (-1) * log(Ratio-(0.03)) + ((4-(3.5 * Ratio)) * ( Ultrafiltrate Volume / Weight))
Where, Ratio = Post BUN/Pre BUN

Dialysis is primarily used to provide an artificial replacement for lost kidney function due to renal failure. Kt/V is a number used to quantify hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatment adequacy.

GFR Calculation

Formulas to calculate Glomerular Filtration Rate:

There are several different techniques used to calculate or estimate the glomerular filtration rate (GFR or eGFR)

GFR for male: (140 – age) x wt(kg) / [72 x Serum Creatinine]
GFR for female :GFR(females) = GFR(males) x 0.85

Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) can be calculated by measuring any chemical that has a steady level in the blood, and is freely filtered but neither reabsorbed nor secreted by the kidneys. The rate therefore measured is the quantity of the substance in the urine that originated from a calculable volume of blood. The GFR is typically recorded in units of volume per time.

Urea Reduction Percentage Calculation

Formulas Used to calculate Urea Reducation percentage calcilation

PRU = ((UPreHD – UPostHD) / UPreHD) * 100%

UPreHD = Urea pre Hemodialysis
UPostHD = Urea post Hemodialysis
PRU = Urea Reduction Percentage(%)

Urea Reduction percentage (PRU) is a way of comparing urea levels in the blood before and after dialysis.
